The masquerade ball was one of the biggest social events of the year, Sally had always dreamed of going. This year she wasn’t going to miss out, as part of her new job as the PA to the managing director, she was expected to attend. She was excited as it gave her the opportunity to meet more people her own age, or at least she hoped it would.

 She needed a gown that would look classy but sexy, she wanted to show off her figure, a show stopping gown. When she saw her gown on The Fairy Godmothers website she fell in love with it. It arrived only 24 hours later and exceeded all expectations; the smooth satin clung to her body the boned bodice enhanced her curves showing off her figure beautifully. The skirt flared form the knee and rippled as she walked. “Perfect”, she thought as she admired herself in front of the mirror. She found the perfect mask, silver with black plumes and edging, it had to feel comfortable as masks were not permitted to be removed before midnight. She was all set and couldn’t wait.

 As she entered the ball she was greeted by an array of beautiful and elaborate masks, she hardly recognised anyone and stood by the door until her bosses wife approached her,  peered into her eyes and said “Sally, is that you”? She took her over to their table and introduced her to the other guests. She had no sooner sat down than she was tapped on the shoulder by a gentleman in the most beautiful mask, ”I know this is a bit of a cliché but would you like to dance?”, he said in a deep well spoken voice that sent shivers down her spine. She shyly agreed.  Once on the dance floor she was surprised how vividly green his eyes were, she couldn’t wait until 12 o’clock when she could see the rest of his face.
